Coming Events at CVN Weekly

by jdb_educator, Managing Editor Cybertown Virtual News IS CVN

Issue 95 for the week of October 12 now hits the cyber news stands!

Can you believe we are now only 5 short issues from our 100th issue! I am personally in AWE.:)) Our writers, editors, picture takers, managers and all staff continue to preovide content and allow us to present different parts of the city and activities. Sometimes it is a HARD road. This seems to us one example of What Hawk Has Desired: People fighting to accomplish real life on the Internet and having fun. To many internet readers our accomplishment may seem small. I think it is huge. Here we are a very small zine made up of many individuals who are creating their own zines within our publication and exploring their talents, writing articles for all of us and getting them published. Many are peeps who never ever expected to see their nicknames in print. Most are people who do not see the talent they have, and all are continually developing new skills. To myself, (and hopefully to you) this is simply wonderful.

Today,of course, I am here to bring you the News from around the city, and to continue to provide, display and encourage the activities, interests and knowledge of our Cytonian population. Cybertown is moving in on its ONE millionth resident. Go ye forth and Recruit, recruit, recruit! We gained about 2000 people this week, as best I could tell. WTG!! (please don't just add new identities, bring new people to our civilization, ok?)

My grateful thanks go to our business section and the v-paper staff. The Vpaper needs people posting on a regular basis, it really is a simple way to get published. So please join and post. The reporters there are building thier news biz. It is basically an interactive bulletin board news, but kind of fun to play with. As always I send Hugz and appreciation to my reliable peeps Rkgbiolgst38, for her ongoing weekly contributions over at the Writing Zone. Rkg has had such a long and illustrious career with us. My pride knows no bounds. Rkg has encouraged and developed my writing, as I hope I have encouraged Rkgs. Thanks go to Spikie06 and pcfreakske2000 for bringing back the tech pages, and! blondie-101 gets kudos for her updated teens section Our thanks go to new CVN deputy, spikie06, and the group over at the business pages and, of course, to our other few weekly contributing writers and editors who are all greatly appreciated.

By the way, PLEASE Don't forget about that Writing Zone Halloween Writing Contest !

Let's get on with it!

This week we add what will surely become its own separate section in time: Cybertown the Never Ending Story. This week we add the to " CT History "by KarinBR. Writings and interviews by KarinBR are also appearing in the Daily News too. WTG Karin!. We also actually had some emails and posts about more coming halloween parties and continue to reporting on those. Please send us URLs or details on colony, hood or block parties! History Urls are also most welcome as cytonians find all reasons to celebrate. The Weekly news continues to be well supported this week by the business pages, the writing zone is bound to pop up if our section chief can stay online long enough to upload and the editorial pages, as well. This CVN content experiement continues with fascination every week as stories come to us. We are excited by the solid news and features being reported in the Daily News with current stories thanks to our dedicated contacts at cybertown.com! Almost Everyone on the weekly side appears to be busy with those draggy RL things. Our CVN WEEKLY content is up to you, it always has been and always will depend upon people to go out gaher, write and send us news! Lots of job possibilities with CVN continue to exist in every section! We continue our hunt for star reporters, writers and editors. Thanks to blondie-101 we now have a start on honors pages. Ahh finding the time. There is the problem. They hopefully will be unveiled with our 100th issue. There are so many people who deserve to be honored for their contribution and efforts to continue CVN news.

We ARE always lookingfor Holiday features AND news. So...interested writers/researchers send us stories! Email us !

My time is and likely will continue to be cut back to online Saturdays & Sundays and usually only half a day at that, on each day. (Such is RL) So it is up to interested cytonians to provide the additional reporting needed. Read the staff page to see available sections, openings and possibilities. LOL Creativity allows a 1000 additional possible creations. Likewise, if you have a news site for Cybertown send us the url, we will add it to our weekly. It is likely to be placed on the colony page, but could end up as a feature!

So there you go, read on and enjoy :) Be sure to come back next week or even more often this week!

***** Here at CVN we have lots of new activities and pages developing. All the CVN Deputies agreed everyone in management should have their own page or section! As we continue this dynamic experiment in Internet journalism, We hope you look forward to more and varied content, lots of activities and neat contests from around the city.

Our focus is simple: fun, entertainment, good and reasonable content, and the improvement of writing. Our goal is to report the news in Cybertown that does not duplicate the Daily News or would be more appropriate for this magazine format.

CVN Weekly will claim no responsibility for what other people have on their site. So caution in exploring those URLs is recommended and even urged. We received notice of some CT "offensive language" but do not see ourselves in this publication or the monthly as required to eliminate such websites from our use. People can always find something offensive if they choose to look far enough, or click on other pages than we send them to read. Our focus is on the article we present, whether in the weekly or monthly. Obviously we try to avoid an over abundance of the too often used "bad words" simply believing their use shows a lack of creativity and poor selection of word choices available. However our thanks do go to those correspondents who alert us of possible errors in judgement, or other errors they may catch for us, ranging from html to dead links. Several of our Cybertown friends have pointed out dangers and concerns in the past. We treat each notification as serious and think, before we respond. Since we are truly independent of Cybertown, we recognize that Cybertown is not responsible for our actions, and do URGE common sense and caution in clicking on ANY url of our publication here. We are certain that you would have to explore thoroughly to find bad language at all in the Daily. The Daily News is the official site news for CVN. The rest of our publications are citizen written and supervised, providing practice for those interested in developing journalist or cyber publication skills.

Job openings and possibilities are, as always, wide open. Anyone who wants to play, learn, grow, and work is welcome. A request for a job, or application and two contributions to our news organization that we publish in the Daily News or the Weekly News are required for Cybertown titles and virtual pay. (The only kind we can afford!)

See our Job Openings or send a CVN application !
