Most of us are familiar with HTML in the form of the pages seen on websites. The compilers use the HTML language to create a book. Hence, the name eBook. To create HTML you need an HTML editor such as DreamWeaver or Front Page. (Obviously there are many free ones on the net too )
Now we can move on to why they are so great. eBooks can be programmed to ensure your work's security. Right clicking, printing, copying, menu bars, and resizing (plus a few other features) can be disabled, allowing your work to be safely placed on a website and the downloaded without the worry of the downloader or a "surfer* copying your work to their own machines. Other safety features might include, an ESBN number (much ISBN on books), password, and time limit securities. Some compilers actually password protect to only one downloader's desktop, making distribution of work impossible.
Create your own eBook on your desktop, then upload to your site or distributor. It's that easy! Compilers range from free to around $200. The price depends on the features you want or need. Most compiler software (even the freebie) has some security. In this day and age, you tend to get what you pay for.
