An Interview with a Cyber Legend
by razak01 for CVN
When I said I was going to interview LadyLiz for this weeks article some people said "the E-Colony Leader?", some said "the retired head of loyalist forces?" and some said " the Chief of Clubs?". Some of you back at home may be wondering who was right but the answer is all of them were right. Yes, Liz is an extraordinary member of our online community, so this week CVN decided to catch up with her and ask her a few questions.
CVN: Liz, the first thing I want to ask you is, how do you manage to fit in so many activities, like being CL, Chief of Clubs and loyalist leader?
LadyLiz: Being disabled, I no longer work a regular paying job, nor do I get out of the house very much. That leaves lots of time on my hands and I choose to fill it with activities that I enjoy. Cybertown is one of my favorites, so I make the time I need to do the many jobs I have there. I guess what it really comes down to is the fact that I love this place, I love the people, and so I pour 100% of myself into it whenever possible.
CVN: Had it always been an aim of yours to be Colony Leader?
LadyLiz: Not at all. When I first stumbled upon Cybertown it wasn't much more than a cool place to come and talk to people. I've never actively looked for any employment, it sort of found me while I was hanging out in the plaza. Once I began that first job, Club Assistant, I realized that the best way to give back to the city for the many hours of enjoyment I got out of it, was to work hard and try to make it a fun place for others. Thus began my succession up the CT career ladder, where I eventually landed in my present positions. For the record though, I'm not the loyalist leader, though I was during the first part of the current Morph game. At this time I've taken a neutral stand and am working as a Game Master.
CVN: What have you got planned in the coming months for the E-Colony?
LadyLiz: We are opening three new neighborhoods within the next week or two - CompNet (computers & internet), Comics, and Cytonian Forces. I've recently hired JonElliott, a long standing CT citizen, to act as our official Events Coordinator. He's got many ideas for colony-sponsored activities that are in the planning phases now. I'd rather not release details until we're ready to move on them though *s*
CVN: What would you say to newbies who want to work up the ladder to CL?
LadyLiz: First and foremost, you have to truly love this place; don't make the mistake of rushing headlong into the "title game". Colony Leader is a very demanding job that requires the ability to delegate work, communicate effectively, act as peacekeeper, mentor and friend to all. To be effective, sometimes requires a great dedication of time.
The beauty of CT is that it's a place where just about any job goal can be reached by anybody if they set their mind to it, work hard and learn how things are done. Take advantage of the knowledge that your employers have already gained. Don't be intimidated by titles; just because we hold a so-called "high position" within CT doesn't make us any different than anybody else. We love to chat and help in any way we can, that's why we spend so much time here. *s*
CVN: What changes do you see happening in the new millennium in Cybertown?
LadyLiz: I see great things for Cybertown's future. As technology improves, so will the structure of this town. We can already look forward to a more seamless 3D environment when Cybertown NG becomes a reality next year. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I envision a community that continues to respond to the needs of its citizens in ways we can only dream of now. That's not to say that it will ever be a utopia in the truest sense. As with any place where large groups of people converge, we will always see controversy regarding policy, among other things, but I believe that CT will continue to mature and be a place where people can gather and learn to get along with one another, without the confines that are placed upon us in our "real" lives.
