Disrespect

The issue today: Visitors coming in and chatting in the plaza freely, is this a good thing?
In my opinion, no. Let me tell you why. Today I talked to two visitors who were very disrespectful of the rules of Cybertown. They spoke using profanity and even made fun of two of us there for merely warning that we would tell security of their actions if they continued.
Are these the kind of visitors we want? No, I don't think so. We need and want visitors who will come in and chat to find out about our community while respecting our site community values. We want these kind of visitors to become members! In this time of trouble, what we certainly don't need is people whose aim appears to be creating a bad image of our community for other visitors.
In order for us to gain members, offer our place to people of all ages, to maintain our "family site" rating we need to keep our site a family friendly site; it won't just happen by itself.
When an adult comes in to our city to see if the site is appropriate for their child, what we want is a positive, pleasant experience for them. An experience where they may easily learn about all the good, exciting, and awesome parts of our community. We certainly don't want them to experience profanity and other unconstitutional, unpleasant events in OUR Plaza.
Note how I have said, our site, OUR Plaza. It truly is ours to chat in and to watch over. Whenever you come into our plaza and find those rule breaking, unconstitutional events occurring, use common sense: 1. be polite and ask them to stop.
2. If they don't stop, warn them and
3. If they continue report them.
You're not being a "tatter-tale" or even a tattle-tale; you are assisting the community maintain a good image.
Personally I believe we need security to take shifts watching over the plaza, but this isn't always possible for them. Citizens need to responsibly pick up the supervision.
We need to always remember that Security personnel are real people serving our community. So, when they aren't there it has to become our responsibility to monitor the chat, while we have our fun together.
Remember? That's why Hawk founded this site: To have fun and see what could be done with chat sites and 3D. He didn't build it for people to annoy others with spam and use profanity all over our public chat spaces.
Cybertown was made as a community where people could chat regardless of age or any other typical human box or label that we put people into so we can divide "who they are" and that includes "who they may be" in real life. So people, do your duty. Keep OUR public chats clean and have a good time.
