An Editorial Has Christmas Really Changed People?

Has Christmas really changed the way people behave and act? I think that Christmas has.
Christmas is not the way it used to be back even when my mom was a kid. When she was a kid Christmas meant being with your family and friends and being with those close to you. Having fun and just being around those ones you hold near and dear to youWere what was important. Back then, any child who got one present would be happy.
I also remember being a kid, living at home with my mom (yes that was a long time ago lol). We used to go to my grandparents house the last weekend before Christmas and we used to have such a great time.
It was not the presents that mattered to me. It was being able to have fun and spend Christmas having a great time with my family. My grandmother used to go all out and buy all kinds of party stuff and have enough food on the table to feed an army of 30 people for the week.
We used to play music and dance there was mistleltoe ,and we all used to gather round the tree and decorate that. Then we never went home until it was really late and not one person worried about the things that didn't matter, like presents. We all just had fun.
Now today I will have to say my family get togethers at Christmas are not as great as they used to be. The simple reason being that my grandmother and grandfather are no longer around to celebrate it with us. But every year that last weekend before Christmas we still do the same thing.
We may not dance anymore but we still all get together and catch up on the events that may have happen to us during that year. And we wish everyone "a merry Christmas" and watch the kids enjoying the fun and not worrying about the presents.
These modern days I have certainly noticed that people (mostly children) are far more interested in the presents they get or they easily seem to get disappointed if they don't get the very things they want. More adults seem to be a bit grumpier as they do their Christmas shopping, too.
I have seen it so bad as some adults are in such a hurry to get this and that for their kids or grandkids that they just push in, out and through the busy shoppers in stores. To me that is not a person who enjoys shopping for Christmas presents. It seems to me that the are just in a hurry to get everything done and over with.
It seems to me that people don't really care about having their friends and family around. Some people do not even care to celebrate Christmas anymore because it is not like it used to be. And, sadly, that is something I have to agree with. I just wish that we could go back to those days, where instead of everyone worrying about what presents to buy their kids or family members, they just worried about being with their close family and friends.
I try to promote that to my kids as well as give them a good Christmas. I also try to make sure they know that Christmas is supposed to be a fun time where you spend it with your family and friends.
It is not how many gifts you get or what you get that counts. Truly, you know it works. There you have it: my thoughts on Christmas and I hope that many of you out there know, understand and promote what Christmas really is and what it really stands for. You can check quickly if you do! Were you just worried about what you got for Christmas? If so, stop and think. Your attitude needs a rest. Well Now you have nearly a full year to get ready!
Christmas is ONLY 360 or or so days away as you read this!
I have to add this final note: Christmas helps me remember the family that I have lost and it also helps me think of the many good times that I have had with them.... And the many more good times there yet to come.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a year full of joy to each and everyone!
