There simply aren’t words to express the depth of sadness and overwhelming emotion I felt when I heard the news that Flyby had passed away. It all just seems so surreal. I expect him at any moment to just pop out and scream “GOTCH YA!” because that was so much the way he was.
Flyby is one of those people that helped make my “Cybertown day” without his cheerful little jokes and witty emails there is going to be a void in my heart and the days will seem just a bit longer. But in the end, I really think the joke is on us, Flyby became so endeared to all of us, that he’s become immortal. His memory and his presence will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all of us who cared about him and to that I say laugh on Flyby, laugh on!

There is a saying that we are each three people. The one as perceived by others, the one we perceive ourselves to be, and the one we really are.
The person who Flyby really is may or may not have been revealed to him now.
The person he perceived himself to be is known only to himself.
The person we perceive Flyby to be is as varied as our individual perceptions, no two of which can ever be the same. Perhaps, and I stress perhaps, Flyby could be described as the sum total of all these perceptions.
My personal perception of Flyby was one of great leadership, kindness, and warmth. People of Cybertown with problems gravitated to him like iron filings to a magnet, and he always seemed to know the right thing to say to make things better. I’ve personally looked to him numerous times for support, and he’s always been there for me.
Flyby had a great love for Cybertown and its people. He did everything he could to help make it a little better for everyone. He didn’t always get the credit he so deserved because a lot of what he did happened behind the scenes. Many of great things we take for granted each day while we are in Cybertown has been because of Flyby. Thank you so much Flyby for caring so much.
I for one will sorely miss you Flyby. We all raise our hearts to you Flyby "the soul who asks for so little but gives so much". You truly are a wonderful being who is a good friend to me.

It was such a pleasure to get to work with Flyby, even if on a limited basis, when I was ePlex Chief and on the City Council. He was always a class act and a legendary leader that inspired me to do my best in whatever I did in Cybertown. A measure of a great leader is not only how well you lead, but how many leaders you make, and a very large majority of the city's leaders have worked under Flyby and have learned from him in the past. His impact has permanently affected Cybertown in a positive way, and will propagate through all of our future leaders, and because of that, a part of him will always be here, and we are forever in his debt.
We miss you greatly, Flyby. The next generation of Cybertown is for you!

Cybertown is crying . We lost one of the most loved citizens , and his countless friends will sorely miss him. He had a wonderful natural leadership,a charming personality, a kind and generous heart and a magnificent sense of humor. I am deeply grateful to him for his help and encouragement . It is my belief that he is now in a heavenly Cybertown,with some of our friends who are also there, watching us from above.

Steve Kash was a charismatic, funny, charming, intelligent and well rounded leader. Not to mention a personal mentor of mine.
I remember at one of the very first Town Meetings (which Flyby humorously hosted) when I was recently hired as Casino Chief (about two years ago). Instead of doing full-fledged moderation, I volunteered to receive questions via whisper, and post them in order.
This made everyone happy and helped alleviate the tension that came with moderating. Later that day, Flyby left me a nice message thanking me for my contribution to Cybertown in general, and I felt glad that he'd take the time out of his schedule to thank ME! :)
He even went as far as to e-mail me saying he'd be there for anything I needed and was willing to give me advice and help out with my new duties as Casino Chief. I appreciated that very much and thought what a great guy he was.
With him gone, I, like many others, feel a hole in my heart and soul. It wasn't always picture perfect since we did disagree over various issues in the past, but we always found a fitting solution to these problems and issues; those qualities in leader's are so rarely found in today's world.
What I valued most was that he took the time to listen and understand, even though it may not have seemed so at the time.
Flyby has contributed so much to Cybertown in general and I appreciate him for that. It is definitely hard to accept that fact that he is gone and that's a difficult thing for me to do.
All I know is that he is in a better place right now, and is looking over each and every one of us now.
Thank you Flyby for what you've done for us all, you've made a profound impact on many people's lives and I for one, will never forget that.
God bless you and rest in peace.

I just wanted to offer my heartfelt condolances to those of you who knew flyby like I did, and in most aspects, even better. I will take with me always the things I learned from such an extraordinary individual as Steve. In my years of speaking with him, He taught me what it was to be able to take things with a grain of salt and laugh them off. I will always remember his sense of humor. No matter how bad things were, or what was being said about him. Steve never let that bring down his humor. He always had a way to keep people laughing, no matter how bad a day they had. I will never forget the emails of us guys talking about fun. I had the chance to talk to flyby via email a few days ago, and will always remain thankful that we had that brief, but fulfilling back and forth exchange. The shock of it all is still hard to bear.
When the news first broke, I was in deep shock, then the denial came and then the tears. Its funny, hearing of the loss of someone that I have never met, has hit me as hard as it would have IRL. I wanted to write to each of you and express my sorrow for your loss of an important part of your circle, it has not only impacted you, but all of CT. Those of us who got to know him, will always remember him fondly. I take with me the remarkable leadership ability he showed, and have used that in my everyday life.
The world of cyberspace and real, has lost a great man, and there is a little bit of a hole in everyones soul who Steve has touched

It deeply saddens me to see people pass away, and it saddens me even mroe when they were as great of a person as Fly was. He was a very talented man and a very kind man, and although I did not know him personally, the things I have heard and seen have all been above and beyond great. Fly cannot fly through Cybertown anymore, but he can soar the skies and be free. Take care buddy.

I discovered the news of Flyby's death while at the funeral of my mother in law who succumbed to cancer on Mother's Day. Needless to say, my emotions were raw and I felt the loss deeply. I wondered at my reaction later on in the day when my thoughts returned to it. I have never had a conversation with him, though I know his character by a couple of different avenues.
The first is through the legacy he has left behind in CT. One of the positions I fill in CT is that of Training CD for Sci Fi Colony. One of the newest developments we have put into place is that of an NL training course. It's sole function is to acquaint potential NL's with the public governing documents that hold CT together and how those documents get practical application through our colony guidelines and the processes we go through to live them out. I have poured over the words that Flyby penned as one of the founders and authors of those documents. His legacy of fair play and respect for others shines through the lines of those documents and casts a mighty shadow on these virtual walls!
The other way I have come to know him, is through the legacy of the people he has left behind. Though I did not know him personally, those whom I honor and have developed a relationship with, did. I knew the version of him as seen by those around him. His shadow is indeed long.
I hesitate in bringing up faith in this forum, religion is a very hot topic and not all find comfort and answers in the same places. Since I can only write from my own perspective, I will rely on your good graces as I view his life through my own lens of faith. Flybys commitment and strength lay as a solid springboard for the life he is exploring now, one that is free of the concerns and worries of this world, cheerfully finding new ways to live the next as full and large as he did this one. Recognizing that we are in a chain of command, I stand to salute the man who I believe is right now saluting the Master of Creation. And has been found worthy.

I wish i could have gotten to know you better. But for those of you who had known Flyby good you were the lucky ones. You got to know him for who he really was. He will be deeply missed but lots i am sure. My condolences go out to all family and friends of Steve.
