Cybertown & Virtual Paris

Welcome to our Virtual Independence Celebration 3 July ~ 14 July This guide should provide you with all the information you'll need to enjoy this 11 day festival ~ including the concert schedule and links to all the major event venues. If you're a visitor you'll want to register with Cybertown and Virtual Paris in order to participate in the ongoing chat. Links to these registration forms are below. (For those of you of the French persuasion please feel free to read this information in a French accent : )

Join Cybertown and Virtual Paris, sister 3D communities in cyberspace, in their 11 day tribute to independence. This celebration, although it coincides with the American 4th of July holiday and France's Bastille Day, also honors the pioneer vision that created the virtual universe.

From July 3rd to July 14th both 3D communities will be linked so that citizens and visitors of each city will be able to easily travel to and fro and experience the best of each.

Concerts, fireworks, surprise animations, virtual street vendors, and cookouts complete with virtual ice cream are just part of the scene to be found in Cybertown. There'll be a continuous variety of special activities throughout the coming days.

Virtual Paris, with traditional French élan, will be having their own gala events celebrating their holiday and honoring the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. This community is gearing up for their Bastille Day on the 14th of July and will have much for us all to enjoy. A portal from their Arc de Triomphe will transport visitors to Cybertown. A reciprocal link from Cybertown's Fun Park will allow travel to the City of Light. Lavish parades and parties? Who knows? Fireworks? For sure. Visit this lovely city and find out for yourself.

Special events in Cybertown will take place at The Fun Park, City Hall, the City Café, and Teenz Town in the Suburbs. At all times you can expect encounters with those you meet to take place in a variety of languages. As well as French or English speaking people, Cybertown is inhabited by a multitude of alien races from many galaxies, so take along your virtual speech converters.

CYBERTOWN

There'll be marching bands (thanks to hermetic_cab), fireworks, outdoor BBQs, and streaming audio concerts 24 hours a day.

Take your avatar for a stroll in The Fun Park and experience the sight and sound of 3D virtual fireworks. Here's where you'll find the 3D portal to Virtual Paris as well.

The continuous display of fireworks will blast off every half hour in the Fun Park through Monday 5 July.

So as not to compete with the fireworks in the Fun Park, music events will be held elsewhere in town (see Concert Schedule). But there'll be special animations and virtual vendors throughout the park so be on the look out! If you're already a Member of Cybertown you can jump directly to The Fun Park here.

TEENZ TOWN

Live music performances are scheduled to be held in Teenz Town throughout the days ahead. Check the music programme for exact times. Everyone is invited! All are welcome! If you're already a Member of Cybertown you can jump directly to Teenz Town here.

In Cybertown's City Café enjoy the music with your virtual java.

Outside City Hall, too, there'll be music performances and food vendors. Virtual cotton candy is an experience not to be missed!

Concerts in Cybertown

Click on the band at right to view the Concert Schedule (You may notice that the dates/times are a little out of whack ~ it seems the Morphs have truly infiltrated everywhere! We aim to correct this ASAP. But on the whole, this is a pretty good guide as to what's playing where.)

All music performed in Cybertown this week will be played in streaming audio format so you'll want to make sure you have the most current software.

Click on the button at left to download (free) the most current version of Real Player G2.

When you come across a band or guitarist or other musical avatar in Cybertown click on it and the music will play for you.

VIRTUAL PARIS

The link from Cybertown's Fun Park will transport you to the Arc de Triomphe in Virtual Paris. Their beautiful 3D city will be decorated with flags and they'll have on hand some "typically French" avatars for you to wear. Make sure you register with Virtual Paris so that you can participate in the chat ~ a link to the registration page is at the end of this guide.

FOR VISITORS

If you're a visitor you'll want to register with Cybertown and Virtual Paris in order to participate in the chat and ongoing conversations. Links to these registration forms are below.

To experience Cybertown and Virtual Paris in 3 dimensional virtual reality you'll need to download (free) blaxxun Contact software which is available here or in the top left hand corner of City Plaza once you've logged in to town.

Once you have registered with either community feel free to proceed to the scene of activity.

To reach Cybertown's Fun Park, once you've entered town, look on the right hand frame of your screen (the control panel) ~ click on Map and then click on Fun Park. (The Map has links to every part of town.) Enter in 3D.

Once you're in Virtual Paris the best way to find your way around is to click on "La Map" of the city. It's usually in the left or top frame of your screen. Enjoy!
