Loyalist Journals Day One: Fear

I arrived in NeoWorld, equipped with a newly acquired beamer in hand, battle plans, and that was all. I entered intro the fray, two hours late not realizing the danger I was about to have in store. I beamed in next to the main base, code name ALPHA. But suddenly, an AA-PD blast exploded onto it. A gunner was Knocked off a turret. I looked to the left and got down. An assault on the main base was launched by the MORPHS. And coming out of the base, shots rang out of the remaining turrets and fellow LOYALISTS.

Then a group stormed out of the base firing at the assaulting MORPHS. Shots rang out of both sides. But the MORPHS were winning. The team that went out to neutralize the threat were too tightly packed and several LOYALISTS could be blasted at a time. Meanwhile, I was sill on the ground, my beamer sweating in my palms. I raised my gun to fire, but I couldn't. "What if I accidentally shot one of my allies? Would my error would cause us to lose?" As I thought, the base was getting pounded. The group sent out was bombarded, hit by gas clouds and they had to beam out to prevent damage to their lungs.

On the ground, I sweated and I cried as the Main Base was getting pounded. I couldn't shoot, and I couldn't take it. In fear and anger against myself, I ran into the nearby hills. While managing to run through the crossfire unscathed.

Two hours later:

I heard in the background sounds of blasts and smelled the gas of the AA-PD's. I knew that the Main Base had been taken over when the shots and screams halted. I heard as they acquired the cannons and took our ammo. I heard everything. There may have been survivors from the onslaught but none came this way.

I waited in the hills, my eyes red with tears, my clothes brown with dust, and my beamer with all ten shots in my hand. I waited in the hills for a wandering MORPH to wander in and find a survivor to shoot. I pondered about how many casualties there have been, how many prisoners the MORPHS had taken. "Prisoners? I doubt it...."

I was lost and without assistance. I guessed that the next person I would meet would be a MORPH who would make me be on the receiving end of his blaster. "Wait, I was not lost!" I rummaged through my pockets, looking through my pockets and retrieved my plans. Sure enough, I found the battle plans, arrows for strike points, code names, and the locations of all bases in NeoWorld, MORPHS and LOYALISTS. Obviously the bases of the TERRANS have not have been discovered, but they have been seen around town. The General guessed that they may be underground or somewhere in the air waiting to attack.

The plan to invade the Morph base had failed as soon as that group went out to counter the MORPH threat. They were the very ones meant to attack the bases, to get in and take out the turrets. We lost the war already...

I figured we lost about half of the LOYALIST on our side. But the other half were spread across the other two bases. That was when I realized that there was still hope. I looked on the map for another base to travel to. My eyes wandered around the thin sheet of paper till I saw base two.

It was out in the middle of nowhere and I doubted that any MORPHS had found it yet.

"There", as I pointed at base two Delta. "That's where I'm going." But the uncrumpling of the plans must have made more noise than I thought, as soon enough I heard a indistinguishable sound, a sound of powering up.

I dropped the paper and a voice spoke up. "Hmmmm.... A Lopig survivor. But not for long!"

A shot rang out of his weapon and sent a wave of energy at the very spot I was at, sending dirt and dust into the air, along with the map. Through the dust, I saw the MORPH, red highlights on his clothing. He was standing on a hill above me, red repulsor in his hand.

After landing on the ground, I reached for my Beamer, which got thrown into the air. His weapon charged up again, but I fired before he got another chance to fire again. I closed my eyes, screaming as I fired, but I could not hear myself. Only my luck and my instincts guided my blasts. Sure enough, they were true as I heard the noise I heard two hours ago.

I opened up my eyes as I watched the MORPH was surrounded with bright pulsating blue rings surrounded the MORPH. Then I watched as he 'came apart molecule by molecule'. Finally, he was gone, beamed out.

I still looked upon the site that where the MORPH had been. There had been no remains of him except the dent he had put into the Earth with his repulsor I knew he would be back the next day, 'beamed in'.

I did not know how long I stared at the spot, but then I finally came to my senses. I checked my Beamer. SHOOT! I wasted 8 shots! Then I said to myself, "At least I survived, that must be the first good thing I had occur to me today..."

I put the Beamer in my pocket, and bent down to look at the Map. I found my bearings by using our former base and got my directions to Base Delta. I also stuffed the Map my pocket and headed to my destination.

Time:1957 4 hours since the onslaught of our command base. I've been walking for what seemed like hours, days, expecting another MORPH over the next rise fully armed and their target trained at my head.

The sun was falling towards the horizon. I needed some place to take a break, to sleep, but there was not another tree for miles. I lost my direction a long time ago. I had no idea where I was. I was lost in waves of grass. Their was no landmark in sight. I though of using the Sun as a guide, but I wasn't sure if the sun set to the West or the East. I was lost again. But suddenly, I heard turret fire. It was over the next hill. I ran up the shallow slope hoping it was the base I was looking for, and not a MORPH one. If it would be, what defense would I have besides two beamer shots. Two loses would be futile to an entire armada.

I Hesitated to look over the hill. When I first saw it, I couldn't tell what base it was. I looked towards the gate and saw our flag, soaring in the sky, rippling in the wind. I rushed down into the valley, but I was about to find out why the turret had fired. Behind me, ten MORPHS rushed down the very hillside I was on, not noticing me. They concentrated their fire on the base. The lone turret fired upon the small group of rebels taking each out one by one. But the process wasn't fast enough. The gunner in the turret took out eight, but was taken out by a blast from them before he got a chance to take them all out. I wasn't about to lose another base.

I fired at them, still running down the hill. I took out one with one blast. "Shoot," I thought to myself. "I got one shot to save myself and my base. One remained, he rushed down the hill full speed now firing upon me with another repulsor in hand. Right there the MORPH pointed at my head, his trigger half pulled. I jumped and turned around. I pulled my final shot at the MORPH, and as the Blue rings surrounded him, He fired.

I hit the ground hard, and the blast he rang out hit the ground. I was knocked back and was sent tumbling down the hillside. I felt a sharp pain, then darkness...

time: 2330 I reawakened in a bunker, lay down on some wooden crates. In the center of the room was a rotating green screen with words and letters I could not distinguish. I tried to get up, but another sharp pain rang through my body. I fell flat on the crates.

A female soldier came in. She came with a bowl of water and damp towels. "How are you feeling? You saved our base you know. The reinforcements weren't expected to get here for another hour." "Yeah, I guess I did, didn't I?" "You took a good hit in the head. You had dust and dirt all over you. Scratches were all over your body, and you were lucky to survive. A few feet to the left and you would have hit a group of sharp rocks" "Today has been full of surprises." My face still felt salty after crying at the base." "So brave soldier, what is your name?" Right then, I just felt a terrible feeling.

"I..., I, I don't remember. My first name is Rick, but beyond that, my mind is blank. All I remember is the last events since the past, what, 9 hours. Beyond that, my mind's a blank. And, also I remember a serial number. It was, hmmm.... EL3-6625." "I wouldn't blame you. You took a pretty good knock on the head. And the number, probably your license plate number. Come on, time to get some fresh air." She helped me stood up and led me to the door. "We go by code names here. You'll learn in time. We go by the name Delta #, or something like that. Want to see where you are first?" She walked to a large black box. Inside was a switch she flipped. Several sparks flew out of it. I then was walked outside.

The entire base was flooded with light and the surrounding valley was illuminated. I saw around and saw twenty-five loyalists surrounding me.

They were all up on the gratings, guns poised outside the base. But the turret post was not yet manned. I took a good glimpse at it. "Yeah, no one else here knows how to operate the turret. We can't find a replacement for him. His beam power ran out. And he had the cross base radio. So were basically cut off from the rest of the world if you don't count the occasional attack." A rumble then shook the base. Out in front of the base were another assault group of MORPHS. They shot wildly around. When their blasts hit the base wall, the entire thing shook.

The other DELTA's fired at the onslaught. But soon they ran out of ammo. They had to head back down to the center of the base but that would take too long. By the time they got back, the base would already be overrun.

I took a glimpse at that turret and saw the tall ramp up to it. I then quickly ran up the ramp, almost falling over several times due to the blasts. I then finally managed to get up onto there. I put on a visor nearby and put upon my head. As if by instinct, I pressed on the right buttons and the Turret came to life. The symbols displayed in the visor showed red triangles and green squares. Somewhere in my mind I knew what these meant.

I then took aim at the melee approaching the base. One by one I took them out as they shot at me and the base, shaking it with each shot. Then three remained. I fired upon them but they appeared a blur when I saw them. That bang in the head must have got me good. They fired on the turret. The DELTA group came back. They got behind the guards on the floor firing at the final MORPHS. One suddenly unleashed a shot at me a familiar scent. I quickly jumped out of the cabin of the turret and fell to the ground. The last thing I saw was the Turret being filled with a green gas. The last thing I heard were shots. The last thing I felt was being engulfed by darkness...
