Last night, I took the night off the web. I went to the Phantom Menace: Star Wars 1 (now playing just about every where) and stood in line at our Cinema 3 theater. About 40 people at 5:00 PM stood waiting for a 6:45 showing. Contrary to web speculation, one site predicted Hobbs and every other theater to show the movie at 12:01 AM. I'm sure many did. Our first showing was for media and special guests only at 10:00 AM MST. The public presentation in Hobbs got rolling at 2:45, I understand. The fascination has been the hype and the wait. The movie is made for those of us who love Star Wars, and will bring new people in. It stands on its own, with fascinating, pleasing characters, spectacular graphics and special effects. The joy for me was looking at how they would show earlier technology than the other movies. I was satisfied. We know how it ended...now we know how it all started. And... pssst.... I hear we are promised the next one in two years...
