The Subscription experience By jdb_educator

[Ok, having read through the RAQ several times and followed several threads of conversations and problems...I take my wallet and credit cards and set them by the computer. It is time to register for Cybertown for the year 2091(2003). The tense (past and present tenses) will change in this story-bad grammatically, but it shows my reaction at the time and where it has been edited, so I'll leave that verb confusion alone.-jdb_educator]
I am subscribing through my Netscape 4.6 browser. OMG there is a lot to read! LOL I ended up in IE after a crash in Cybertown. I clicked the help, but there seem to be only the options of PayPal or send by snail mail. Too bad. IVN should have a credit card account. Current posts from IVN and Cybertown make it clear that the PayPal account was only for those who are willing to subscribe early!
PayPal did work well enough to gather $1,600.00 in donations in June. (Likely there were snail mail donations too. But CVN has no knowledge of that. Ok, I fixed up my subscription choices, clicked through on add family member and discovered I have to get my wife's password! These security measures are a royal pain. However, the need for the site to have accurate information, and for both the subscription and the memberships be accurate is what is most important. I have to keep remembering this was a hurry up effort to allow those of us who can, to subscribe early. All Citizens will have until January 7 th to subscibe and a much more flexible opportunity to subscribe should be available then. Unfortunately, I had to wait to complete this task after my wife returned from church. Such is life. Sooo...time to explore the options now that I have created the account. It will be interesting to see if I keep the account or have to create a new one later. My account now reads (XXXX): New Family
One Time: Year
99.95
I like the edit and delete options provided.
I like both the sponsorship page and the donation page. They are short and sweet and we can use it to send gift certificates or donations respectively! I'll likely be sending donations in addition to the annual subscription. The donation page is equally simple: Give a donation. There is space to explain how you want the donation used.
Enter the amount you want to donate, and a description
of how you would ideally like it used.
Please enter the amount with no commas.
Eeeeeeeeeek When I put my wifes name in it lower cased the spelling from Divine_Miss_M to Divine_miss_m. Frantically I hit back. Oh ok, that's just the formatting script! Not MY error! Whew
Oh those legal agreements: (not provided here) lol lots more reading!
Ok I have finalized the account, now I have to find my paypal sign in! Arghhh no info available. Had to recall, hunt, fetch and jump through hoops! So carefully, carefully I went through the paypal options until I finally got the job done! It is easier to buy at Amazon.com! LOL That is part of what makes Cytoniand different! Perserverence!
LOL And I'm betting, it will be easier to subscribe to Cybertown by January 7 th !
Upon completing all that was necessary I received nice emails first from paypal (provided here) then from IVN (not provided) I am in contact and receiving email from the [email protected] address. They do, indeed respond, but may be overloaded with e-mail.
Subscription Information You have successfully signed up and made a payment of $250.00.
This credit card transaction will appear on your bill as "PAYPAL*CYBERTOWN B".
All in all it wasn't a bad experience. It takes extra work, unless you are comfortable with PayPal.
